West Chester, PA— SecureNetMD’s community driven project, TechTalk Jr., will be joining the Delaware Valley Chapter of HIMSS at the upcoming GETT (Girl’s Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology) Expo on March 25th. TechTalk Jr. will be providing an opportunity for the girls to learn programming concepts through engaging digital games that make learning technology fun. TechTalk Jr. has partnered with Tynker: Coding for Kids, to give one lucky girl a free year subscription to Tynker.com, a creative computing platform where millions of kids have learned to program and build games, apps, and more.
SecureNetMD® Director of Development, Keri Boyer, shares,
“We’re really honored to be invited to join DVHIMSS at this wonderful event. Organizations like GETT lend us the opportunity to mirror to these young girls how STEM careers can be both exciting and fun. It’s really important for the women who have embarked in STEM careers to proactively empower these young girls to want to study, work, and lead businesses in science and technology. With less than 24% of women filling these crucial roles in STEM, it’s key that we partner together to make science and technology an exciting space for girls to want to explore. “
At the DVHIMSS booth, girls are encouraged to stop by and try TechTalk Jr.’s Play & Code Session for an opportunity to play digital games while gaining an understanding of the basic concepts of Computer Science. All participants will receive a certificate for their efforts and one lucky winner will walk away a one year subscription to Tynker.com.
Casey Fitzgerald, SecureNetMD VP of Sales, shares,
“We are very excited to participate in the GETT expo. It’s encouraging that there is this avenue to get young ladies involved and excited about the technology industry and hopefully help close the gender gap in the field.”
TechTalk Jr is meant to bring the downstate tech conversation to the younger generation with the intention of engaging both parents and children. Most notably, TechTalk Jr. has partnered with the Delaware State Libraries to bring exciting seminars and activities to local libraries throughout the state. These Meet-ups are mainly centralized around STEM education, aiming to motivate and inspire the younger generation to excel in STEM subjects. We believe Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education plays a critical role in U.S. competitiveness and future economic prosperity.
